Clinical effectiveness of enhanced recovery after surgery in robotic prostatectomy a meta-analysis of systematic review.

Robotic surgery is a common way to treat prostate cancer. Even though this type of surgery is gentler than older methods, recovery can still take time. A care method called ERAS—Enhanced Recovery After Surgery—might help people heal faster.

ERAS is a set of steps that doctors and nurses follow before and after surgery. These steps help the body recover more quickly. ERAS is already used in some bladder cancer surgeries, and now researchers are looking at how well it works in prostate surgery.

A new study looked at 7 research papers that included 848 men who had robotic prostate surgery. Half of them had ERAS care.

The other half had regular care. The results showed that ERAS helped men leave the hospital about one day earlier.

IT also helped their digestion return to normal sooner. Men on ERAS were able to walk earlier and had their first bowel movements faster.

Importantly, ERAS did not increase the risk of problems after surgery.

This means that it can make recovery faster without making it less safe.

Many hospitals already send patients home quickly after prostate surgery. But this study shows ERAS still offers benefits, especially for people who need more support during recovery.

Doctors now want to learn which parts of ERAS help the most.
