Efficacy and safety of Cadonilimab in the treatment of recurrentmetastatic and advanced cervical cancer a systematic review and meta-analysis.DOI 10.3389fimmu.2025.1729380

Cervical cancer can be very hard to treat once it spreads or comes back after treatment. Many patients face limited options at this stage. New medicines that work with the immune system are giving new hope. One of these medicines is cadonilimab.

Researchers reviewed ten clinical studies that included 728 patients with advanced, recurrent, or metastatic cervical cancer. These studies looked at how well cadonilimab worked and how safe it was. The results help patients understand what this treatment may offer.

More than half of the patients saw their tumors shrink after treatment. This is called a response. Some patients had a complete response, meaning no visible cancer was found on scans. Others had a partial response, where the cancer became smaller. Many patients also achieved disease control, which means the cancer stopped growing for a period of time. This can help relieve symptoms and improve daily life.

Survival results were also encouraging. Around three out of four patients were alive six months and one year after starting treatment. About six out of ten patients were still alive after two years. Many patients also went several months without their cancer getting worse. These findings suggest that cadonilimab may slow disease progression in some people.

Side effects were common, which is expected with immune-based treatments. Most patients had mild to moderate reactions. These included tiredness, fever, skin reactions, or digestive symptoms. More serious side effects occurred in some patients and needed medical care. A group of side effects linked to immune reactions was also seen. These happen when the immune system becomes too active and attacks healthy tissue. Doctors can often manage these problems if they are found early.

Cadonilimab shows meaningful activity against advanced cervical cancer with risks that doctors know how to manage. Careful monitoring during treatment is important. These findings support cadonilimab as a treatment option that may offer benefit when other therapies have failed.
